Pineapple Salad is a jello recipe that my grandma used to make. It was (and still is) a consistent part of the main course at Christmas dinner and on other special occasions.
My grandma typed these instructions out on a recipe card for my mom when she moved to Edmonton to go to university in the 70s. Here it is, word for word:
In a dish place 4 oz. of cream cheese and allow to become room temperature. Add 6 oz. (more or less as desired) of crushed pineapple to the cream cheese, being careful not to include any pineapple juice. (The extra juice and pineapple may be saved for other dessert recipes.) In a 2 cup measuring up place 1 cup boiling water and add to it 1 package of lemon jello. Stir well. Add the jello to the cream cheese chunks. Add 7/8 cup water. Allow to set until firm.

i like the hoto, & i think it is lovely to know about the pineapple-hospitality connection. it makes perfect sense that your grandma would have a famous pineapple recipe!
