Three generations (Berkeley, CA)"All the eggs a woman will ever carry form in her ovaries while she is a four-month-old fetus in the womb of her mother. This means our cellular life as an egg begins in the womb of our
grandmother. Each of us spent five months in our grandmother's womb and she in turn formed within the womb of her grandmother. We vibrate to the rhythms of our mother's blood before she herself is born."– Layne RedmondFrom When the Drummers Were Women:

matryoshkas :)
this is a lovely quote.
this principle of matrilineal inheritance is also important for many sakha. they believe you have three souls: one comes from the earth (from the place you are born), another from the air (as you take your first breath), and another you inherit from your mother. from what i understand it's a piece of her own soul-material, which of course came from her mother of course, and so on.
I remember that you told me a bit about the three souls during our December-visit. I've been thinking about them since then - especially the place/land soul. This way of understanding soul makes so much sense.
