Is this juxtaposition, or similarity?
I've been thinking about a character in a novel by Dionne Brand. In the book, Tuyen works part-time in a retail job in downtown Toronto. While she's working, she decides to bypass the usual small-talk and ask customers what they long for instead. And she collects their answers for one of her art installations...
I'm convinced that everyone has a wealth of longings and wishes and questions hidden just below the surface. But all of these important things tend to be tucked away out of sight in the midst of the pace of daily life.
There isn't necessarily a set time when longings should be voiced, but there are many objects and situations in our culture that have been designated for wishing...
When you encounter any of these things, what do you wish?
First star to appear in the evening
Shooting star
Birthday candles
The clasp of a necklace turned towards the front
Dandelion fluff
A penny thrown into a well or fountain
Wish bone
Wish chip
Can you think of other objects that carry our wishes?

i think the photo is a similarity... rusting wire, decaying leaf... sometimes when leaves die & start to lose all their colour you can trace the little tangles of dried out chlorophyll-vesicles that look much like those curls of wire.
i can't tell you what exactly i wish for, for it might not come to be... but i must add that you can also wish on sneezes! as the french say, à ton souhaite!
